First off, I do apologize, I have a rather large blog 80% written that I had to put down temporarily but it will be soon.
In the meantime, here's a pitch for the next Star Trek film I recently posted in a comment on Den of Geek
The script is in progress and being developed. Some time ago, I had seeded the idea of bringing famous Star Trek fraudster 'Harry Mudd' to the big screen but had no idea how that would work. A little time later, one of the staffers from Den of Geek accidentally mentioned that Harry Mudd could very well be involved. Now I know exactly how the plot could work and here's the pitch:
(as quoted from Den of Geek)
"...My idea (stamp it now) and pitch to the writers: is that the Federation, Klingon Empire and Tholian empire face off in a bidding war for a class L planet deep in the Alpha quadrant rife with dilithium. To settle the auction, the resident system inhabitants enlist the services of independent master auctioneer (and fraudster) Harcourt Fenton Mudd. With the inhabitants eager to avoid confrontation of any kind, Mudd offers to hold the auction over subspace on a secure channel whereby the winner is expected to transfer full payment at close. After a heated exchange of bids, the auction closes and the Federation is informed that they are the winners. Kirk and crew are sent to protect a squadron of ships enroute to secure the new acquisition. Unbeknownst to them, the Klingons AND the Tholians have ALSO been informed that THEY have each won the auction and are in the process of sending their own detachments to secure the Class L planet as rightful owners. An immediate and furious exchange happen as all three detachments assume that the other is trying to overthrow the deal. Who will prevail? What happened to the money? And most importantly: WHERE IS HARRY MUDD? Only a full confession from Harry and the money returned can stop interstellar war..."
So there you have it. We'll see what happens next.
