It's a bit silly to put Iran in the same boat as the rest of the Middle East. In fact Iran has one of the highest intellectual and scientific levels you can find - it's a damn shame it's being kept down by, as you say, "religious wingnuts". They could probably pull this off however, and the timing is oddly fitting with other similar plans that have been going on for a few years, localising internet as a whole, to account for local laws. It's not a good idea though...
ReplyDeleteOh, I certainly agree that Iran has its academics. I have the utmost respect for the Iranian people. It's just an awful shame that all of that talent is being funnelled into the military and the militarization of nuclear energy. You might notice my *choice* search topic. Any effort, no matter how credible it may be, to control a society governed by masochistic, religious zealots should be condemned.
