Mass Effect film to be unveiled at Comic-Con on July 22nd.

Ah yes, Comic-Con!  Where many spidy-webs are slung and scantily-clad women dressed as superheroes tantalise overweight confirmed bachelors.
Interestingly, Comic-Con is also a bit of a sweetheart of mine because, quite frankly, anything worth talking about seems to be unveiled at it.

This time around, the début unveil of 'Mass Effect: The Movie' will occur for a select audience of very lucky people.  There will be a panel discussion as well with Mark Protosevich, the film's screenwriter, on-hand to take questions and talk about the film.  Now, of course, there IS a danger that this movie is going to tank.  After all, with a few exceptions (Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill (debatable)) game-to-movie translations don't go well.  (Then again, if you remove Uwe Boll from the equation, the odds go up significantly.)

The proof will be in the pudding and no doubt Protosevich will bring his best candy to the table.  On the note of superheroes, keep watch for the new 'Captain America' movie, especially if there's a new trailer.  I'll admit, I had ZERO interest in this film until I saw this trailer  and realised the angle being used and by god, Captain America not only makes sense, it looks like the biggest come-from-behind runaway hit of this year!  I could go into detail but go watch the trailer first.

  1. I really don't know what to expect from a Mass Effect movie. Do we even know if it will be an animation or "regular" one? I'd prefer a normal movie, to see how they pull off all those effects and races, if nothing else. If animated, then my interest drops really fast. Or not, who knows. Need more info, is all.

And about that Captain America, thanks mentioning the trailer -like you, I had no interest at all for this movie, but that just changed :) That looked pretty sweet. And of course, any movie with Tommy Lee Jones and Agent Smith in it can't be bad, right?

  2. I agree - Captain America has all the hallmarks of a great film. It's almost as though they've created a desirable film version of 'Wolfenstein' and I think a sequel could take us there without much effort - imagine the Captain battling evil Nazi scientists through the cavernous maze of a massive military complex.

  3. Yep, you can never go wrong with evil Nazi scientists and massive military complexes :)

Which actually reminded me, I still got the latest Wolfenstein sitting somewhere in my shelf... might be proper time to play that thing.

  4. My wife's told me that the only selling point of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, was that there was dominatrix nazis in skin-tight leather with machine guns... Incidentally, she also said that was more than enough to make them sell it to her.

I'm looking forward to Cap's screen time - it's so far looking really good, and you can't go wrong with Hugo Weaving as Red Skull...

As for Mass Effect, they need to explore the universe a lot more than they have previously, which Bioware has also said they will, after the conclusion of Mass Effect 3 - apparently that will end Shepard's trilogy, but the franchise will continue. Which I personally think is the right move. - But the movie needs to step on new ground, or completely mimic that of the game, to satisfy the fans. If they don't get the story right, they might as well not make it at all - making this a serious hit-or-miss venture. I think it's bold, and I'm not sure they have the capacity to pull that one off juuuust yet.
